Back-to-School Empowerment Programme

Keeping children in school through supplies, enrolment drives and direct support to families for whom the start of term is a financial cliff.

Location
Oke Arungbo Community, Osogbo
Beneficiaries
640 pupils
Partner

Timeline
Sep 2024 – Present

For many families in Oke Arungbo, the beginning of the school year is the point at which a child quietly stops attending. Not through choice — through the cost of uniforms, books and levies arriving all at once.

This programme removes that cliff. We run an annual school supplies drive, support enrolment for children who have already dropped out, and work with head teachers to identify pupils at risk of leaving before it happens.

Classroom support continues through the year, so the intervention is not a single delivery but a relationship that lasts the full academic session.
