WHD Annual Impact Report
Our first year of operations: laying the foundation for faith-driven development in Osun State - programmes launched, partnerships formed, and early outcomes across education, health, and gender-based violence prevention.
2025 was our first full year of operations: the year our programmes launched, our first partnerships formed, and our early outcomes could be measured. Four initiatives ran continuously through the year, reaching more than 2,500 people directly across fifteen communities in Osun State.
What we set out to do
We committed to three things at the start of the year: build a faith-leader network that lasts beyond one-off training, keep children enrolled through a full academic session rather than a single term, and put women's savings groups on a footing that would survive the end of our funding.
What actually happened
The faith-leader network held. 120 leaders engaged across the year, with quarterly dialogues in host communities and follow-up mentoring for every participant. Referral pathways for survivors of gender-based violence are now in place in the majority of participating congregations.
In education, 640 pupils were supported through the 2024/25 session. Attendance data from participating head teachers showed retention holding through the year rather than falling away after the first term — a marked change from the drop-off head teachers described in previous years.
Where we fell short
Our reach in rural communities outside Osogbo remained thinner than planned. Travel costs and the absence of a permanent local presence meant several communities received one visit rather than the intended three. This is the principal constraint we are addressing in 2026.
